Luau Laughs :) :) :)
It wasn't ALL work at the Summer Institute. Among the many fun activities planned by the staff was a Friday night luau. The decorations were beautiful, making us think the hot Kansas weather was really simply tropical. Some of the staff and participants went all out. The Laguna Lovelies (Millie Chino, Veronica Purley, Virginia Velasquez, and Nancy) showed up with flowers in their hair. Veronica also was persuaded to demonstrate the appropriate way to wear coconuts, and Veronica, Maggie, and Chris Morganroth demonstrated how to hula. The kitchen staff prepared a wonderful dinner, with chicken salad in pineapple shells. We all had a wonderful time.
